Update on Recent U.S. Legislative Amendment

The U.S. House of Representatives passed a bill on May 24 that includes an amendment prohibiting the federal government from purchasing video surveillance equipment from certain China-based manufacturers citing alleged security threats. Hikvision—along with other Chinese companies—is mentioned in the amendment. The bill has not made it through the entire legislative process and has not been signed into law.
